December 4, 2003 Windows 'Longhorn' Build 4051, the Desktop. There's a new theme in this build called Slate, but Longhorn builds that followed this one included an even cooler "glass" or transparency motif that allows you to see through the Sidebar (on right) and other objects to see the desktop or other objects behind them. As you can see, a lot about previous versions of Windows is preserved. The Quick Launch area, which used to be just to the right of the Start button, is affixed to the Sidebar (under the clock) in this build. Let's hope they let us put it back where it belongs.
